the essential
The website of the Gaillacois painters association has been completely redesigned. Objective, to inform, make yourself better known and recruit new members.
The Gaillac Painters organize their show every year, the oldest in the department, which has enjoyed a rare linearity since 1961, when André Escrive included it in the region's artistic events calendar. The membership remains stable at around 55 members, who meet on Monday evenings (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) during Béatrice Dupuy-Salle's class, on Thursdays (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) at Corinne Héron's, which continues from 7 p.m. at 9 p.m. with another group, where we find mainly watercolorists.
Françoise Froissart, when she is passing through Gaillac, also intervenes to provide her know-how. The association welcomes all levels of practice, from beginners to the most experienced, and leaves everyone great freedom of choice in techniques and subjects.
“Professors can propose work done together on a particular theme to present it during our Salon. It allows us to show our work, but this is not an obligation” specifies president Nicole Gilles.
Everything you need to know about the show
The association, in order to make itself better known, has completely overhauled its website (artgaillac.com), as it committed to doing at the general assembly. It is now accessible to the public. The sections are clearly defined: agenda, workshops and courses, outings and visits.
We can know everything about the Salon since 2012 and a lot about the next 2025 edition, which will welcome more than 140 artists and 400 works in drawing, painting, sculpture and photography, each participant being able to present three works. In its 2024 edition, the “favorite” went to Pierre Chabert for his enamels on copper and to Bernard Six (Indian ink). The first Public Prize went to Fabienne Lebourgeois-Beneitez, the second to Jean-Claude Tachoire, the third to Mickaël Montet, the Pastel Prize to Michèle Sentenac, the Watercolor Prize to Christiane Barthes-Gouaze, the Theme Prize to Nelly Bonnet, that of acrylic to Thierry Régis, the Mixed Media Prize to Frédérique Roche, that of members to Dominique Fillère, the City Prize to Michel Ger, the Pendariès Prize for sculpture to Henri Hadida and the Photography Prize to Karine Puech for all of her work. The next Salon will open on April 18, with Riège as guest of honor. A professional painter since 2014, he has received numerous awards (Taylor, Gold medal in 2023 at the Salon des Artistes Français). Between now and spring, the Gaillac Painters will organize thematic courses in their premises on rue du Théron as well as outings to museums and exhibitions.
