the essential
Camille and Isis are two visual artists. They have just created Ateliers Houlala in Foix, where they run painting workshops at 10 rue du Pont.
They created their association, Les Ateliers Houlala, last November, but it was at the beginning of January that Camille and Isis, two visual artists, opened a premises that they share at 10 rue du vieux Pont, with the intention of create a space dedicated to practicing different painting methods.
At the beginning of the month, passers-by were able to discover their window adorned with a very rural decoration, with straw, branches and plants, which they had installed during the pop-up Christmas Gallery. According to Camille, “we would like to have a party every season, inviting friends, local artists, people who live there, it’s a way of bringing life to the small streets.” Since then the signs have remained, where you can discover their activities and their schedules.
As a specialized facilitator having worked with all categories of people, Camille can welcome a large audience into her space, and her art therapist diploma broadens her audience. She practices, among other things, the Hauschka method. This therapeutic method uses watercolor painting as an integral part of supporting the person in the physical or psychological healing process. The colors contain forces which reflect our psychic life, conscious or unconscious.
-Workshops and methods for everyone
Isis, who studied Fine Arts in Martinique, is a professional painter and guides her students in all kinds of techniques. She says she is inspired by one of the latest training courses she did with Arno Stern, a researcher and teacher whose method helps children who are precocious, have behavioral problems or drop out students. She explains that these children can paint without external pressure or expectation, without any method that would hinder their creativity.
These two artists burst with ideas and projects. Their workshops are open to everyone, children and adults. Isis workshops are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, both for free and guided painting, and on Fridays a workshop for parents and children. Camille’s sessions take place on Saturday mornings for adults and children, and on Sunday mornings with the Hauschka method for adults.
Both also offer monthly courses, visual arts courses to prepare for art schools, as well as cultural events with seasonal exhibitions, conferences and pop-up galleries.
