Management deplored the uncertainty around the duration of the work on the roads, which could extend to two years. The museum was unable to obtain financial support from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, which confirmed at the beginning of October that it could not “extend resources” to maintain the establishment. “On the other hand, working with MIMA, looking for solutions in collaboration and supporting it, obviously we will do our best,” declared Minister-President Élisabeth Degryse, also responsible for Culture.

MIMA also looked for solutions to continue its activities – partly with the help of the hub.brussels and citydev.brussels agencies – but none could be found before this date. The museum has therefore decided to close permanently at 7 p.m. this Sunday, with the end of the exhibition “Multitude” by street artist Alexandre Farto alias Vhils. For the occasion, the Portuguese designer is present in Brussels, where he created a mural on a facade on rue Léopold.

MIMA had already canceled two exhibitions planned for October: one entrusted to the Italian-Japanese duo Lolo & Sosaku and the other reserved for the Crafteke collective, based in Brussels.
