In Octon, the collective hanging on the walls of the Village des arts presents the fruit of five weeks of workshops imagined by the Potentiels Jeunes association.

Their names are Célestine, Fiona, Maé or Thibault… In Octon, six young people from Hérault hung their works on the walls of the arts village. Still visible this Friday November 28 and Saturday 29, the collective exhibition makes a strong impression. From papermaking to bookbinding, including engraving, comics, screen printing, textile work and video editing, it compiles dozens of recent works imagined in recent weeks by these artists aged 16 to 25. . Creations that show different graphic approaches from their five weeks of workshops. Five weeks of practice and learning during which they refined, affirmed, an obvious artistic paste and developed new know-how in contact with recognized artists*.

The artistic fiber of paper

Raw material capable of weaving new links and consolidating artistic fiber, “papermaking brought a lot of value to this work” analyzes Gilles Monteil, coordinator of the Potentials jeunesse association which carries the initiative. Thus, the artisanal making of paper will have acted as a revealer of potential. Around the designer Philippe Gerbaud, the comics workshop will also have opened the sequence around the idea of movement, mobility… It must be said that Young Potentials works towards remobilization. Through its actions the association “created the conditions, the situations, which allow (young people) to recognize themselves capable of acting.”

A quality exhibition

The action is being carried out for the third time at the Octon Arts Village. And a 4th comic course. This time it stands out with a first exhibition open to the public. As a culmination for these budding artists who are bringing to fruition here a beautifully crafted artistic project. Because if the overall objective of monitoring is in particular to “strengthen their confidence in themselves and in others” through artistic or artisanal practices, the exhibition is absolutely worth the detour.
