The French actor, known for his performances in the cinema, made a name for himself outside the spotlight, in Geneva. But this time, it is a hefty fine of 30,000 euros (19,654,932 CFA francs) which was imposed against Omar Sy who, according to the Swiss media 20 minutes, “was flashed at speeds well above the authorized limits on his motorcycle. A first time at 92 km/h on July 19 not far from the border, while the maximum speed authorized at this location is 50 km/h, i.e. an excess of 37 km/h if we remove the safety margin of 5 km/h. Then a second time, the next day at 98 km/h instead of the authorized 60 km/h.”

According to the Swiss media, Omar Sy is a repeat offender. In fact, it is not the first time to be arrested for speeding. In 2008, he was checked at 185 km/h instead of 110 km/h on his motorcycle in Tremblay-sur-Mauldre (Yvelines), causing him to have his machine immobilized.

He was held against him, an offense on two occasions which punishes “the fact of creating a serious danger for the safety of others or taking the risk of doing so by a serious violation of a road traffic rule”. Omar Sy will have to pay a 105-day fine of 300 francs per day, or more than 31,500 Swiss francs, the equivalent of 32,500 euros. Given his lack of history in Switzerland, he was granted a reprieve for 3 years, but he received a fine of 6,300 Swiss francs “as an immediate sanction”.
