A man “profoundly human, a true teacher”

Born in (), Claude Pasquer taught at Ensa (national art school) in Bourges. “I adored him,” says one of his former students. He was a deeply human man, always positive as a teacher. I never saw him annoyed or angry… He was a true teacher. »

Those who knew him also keep the memory of a fine mind and an “encyclopedic culture in the field of contemporary art”. In the 1960s, reading Mythologiesby Roland Barthes, was the starting point for a reflection on play and inspired playful creations, a retrospective of which was presented last year at the Jacques-Cœur palace in Bourges (Jeu libre), as part of the Ar(t]chipel festival.

He took over the place a few weeks later, this time in duo with Nadia Pasquer, his wife. Entitled GéométrieS, it was designed as a journey through their works, explained Nadia Pasquer, with old creations and other recent ones, chosen to form a whole.

Thus, the paintings of Claude Pasquer, plays of lines, rhythms and colors, coexisted with the rounded creations, inspired by the constellations, of Nadia Pasquer. Exhibiting in this place had been “a magnificent project” for the two artists.
