Stéphane Plaza is in turmoil again. While he was placed under judicial supervision after being accused of domestic violence, the 53-year-old host attracted the wrath of Internet users, following an Instagram publication. On May 5, 2024, he announced new projects in the West Indies. In the caption of a photo where we see him at the helm of a sailboat, he wrote: “Like Christopher Columbus, I sail the waves for a new stratospheric adventure: establishing Stéphane Plaza Immobilier in the marvelous islands beyond -sea. Let’s start with Guadeloupe!”

On On May 9, 2024, he declared that he “strongly condemned the statements of Stéphane Plaza”, while inviting him to change course. “The evocation of this name constitutes an unforgivable insult to our people, Martinique and Guadeloupe,” he added. And to clarify: “By comparing yourself to Christopher Columbus, you identify yourself with a murderer and torturer, responsible for massacres who actively participated in the European genocide of indigenous peoples and who instituted slavery as well as the sex trafficking of women and children .”https://twitter.com/SergeLetchimy/status/1788365394702389315https://twitter.com/SergeLetchimy/status/1788365386641027335

Stéphane Plaza has, for the moment, not reacted to the controversy. Note, however, that his Instagram post has been modified (see below): any reference to Christopher Columbus has now disappeared.
