Taylor Swift concerts: Rouen fans eager to attend the American pop star’s Parisian dates

Your children or grandchildren must know her, or perhaps even have tickets to see her sing in the coming days: Taylor Swift, the 34-year-old American singer, is preparing to give six concerts in France, including four in Paris, from Thursday May 9 to Sunday May 12, at La Défense Arena in Paris, as part of his world tour “The Eras Tour”. Dates that Taylor’s fans, nicknamed the Swiftiesdo not plan to miss, in Rouen: many of them have fought to get their concert place this week.

She managed to get tickets for three of the American star’s four concerts. “I really admire her because she gives her all for her fans, she writes her own songs, which is admirable. She has a strong personality and has managed to create a whole community of fans around the world..”

She sings, plays instruments, writes her own songs

An artist with an already well-filled list of achievements: in 2006, when she was only 16 years old, Taylor Swift released her first album, simply titled Taylor Swift. Today, she has made 11 albums in total. The latest, The Tortured Poets Department (The circle of tortured poets), released in mid-April, exceeded one billion plays on Spotify in less than a week. Many fans are hoping that the star will sing songs from this albumwhich she has never yet sung live.

The pop star also has six world tours and more than 500 musical awards including 14 Grammy Awards. In 2023, she was named personality of the year by the magazine Time. “These concerts are exceptional for fans because it is almost the first time that she has performed in France, and with so many dates“, explains Léa. Taylor Swift gave a concert in 2011 at the Zénith in Paris, in front of a room that was not entirely full; she then returned only for promotional operations, then for a private concert at the Olympia in 2019.

Between 70 and 160 euros for a concert ticket

SO fans in Seine-Maritime gave everything to be able to obtain a precious place for one of the concerts. “I was determined to find places! In fact, there was a draw, you had to register“, explains Charlotte, 28, another fan of the singer. “So to put all the chances on our side, we registered friends and family. It was a bit chaotic but it did it!“She can’t wait to finally see Taylor Swift on stage:”I really liked his album Folklore*, even if it’s not people’s favorite album in general. I’m also really looking forward to listening to his songs from the Reputation album, the whole concert is really going to be amazing.”

His concerts are a unique experience. Depending on their places, some paid 70 euros per person, 90 euros in the pit, up to 113 and 160 euros for higher categories.

Many Swifties carpool to Paris with other fans. There are likely to be people on the road to get to Paris this weekend: Flixbus, which offers bus trips particularly to Paris, has noticed a “Taylor Swift effect”: an increase in reservations linked to concerts this weekend, particularly for lines arriving at the La Défense bus station from Normandy (Rouen, Le Havre and Caen), but also from the North and Belgium. According to Flixbus, between 7,000 and 9,500 tickets sold for this week were linked to the American artist’s concert.
