With just over a month until June 9, the electoral campaign is accelerating. Georges-Louis Bouchez was the guest of “Café sansfilter” this May 8 on LN24 and LN Radio.

The president of the MR returned to the results of the investigation by the Federal Planning Bureau. According to the study which dissects the programs of each party, the MR is the one which “holes the state budget” and “creates deficits”. For Georges-Louis Bouchez, “what is true is that our proposals are those which create the most jobs, which increase the most the disposable income of our fellow citizens – an increase of almost 5% while the PS decreases by 2.5%. But on the other hand, to reduce this public expenditure, since we are reducing State revenue, there are a whole series of mechanisms that we submitted and that the Planning Office said it was incapable of evaluating.”

The president also attacked the PS in relation to these figures revealed by the Planning Office. “That the PS is giving us lessons in good management when you see the state of Brussels’ finances, it’s a bit funny”.

Bpost, this drunken boat

Georges-Louis Bouchez also gave his point of view regarding the sale of public companies. “What we need is for certain public companies to find private reference shareholders who give them an entrepreneurial dynamic. For example bpost. Today, bpost is a drunken boat. For what ? Because there is no longer a reference shareholder who is an expert in logistics, in the postal sector to be able to change things”. The president of the MR draws the same observation for Proximus, adding that “This does not mean that the State must abandon all participation. But the State as the majority shareholder is not a good shareholder because it does not have an entrepreneurial strategy.”

Concerning the heated nuclear issue, in which Georges-Louis Bouchez accuses Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten of exploitation, the president of the MR expresses his anger: “Elia tells us in September 2022 that we can close all the nuclear reactors without any problem. Then in March 2023, they say we can no longer close, because in between there was the war in Ukraine…” For GLB, when calculating capacity, it is important to take into account geopolitical risks – which were predictable according to him. “I was made to look like a clown”, declares the liberal again, evoking this moment when he warned of the fact that we could not do without our nuclear power plants. He also calls for the launch of a parliamentary commission of inquiry in order to document the history of the country’s energy strategy over the last twenty years.

Vie Féminine and Oxfam singled out

Finally, the president of the MR returned to the debates organized by certain non-profit organizations, which seem to sideline the MR. “At some point, I start to get fed up with these people who pretend to be virtue and who don’t even have the minimum skills of democracy. Feminine Life will teach you lessons from morning to night on democracy and inclusion. They don’t invite the Reform Movement because we don’t agree 100% with them. Beautiful concept of democracy… Another example: Oxfam which explains that everyone must pay tax. They make sure they don’t pay corporate tax on their stores. So I’m a little fed up with these virtuous people who in reality are only activists, but activists with public money.”
