Until December 2024, the five-star hotel-restaurant Alexandra Palace in Mazières-en-Gâtine is hosting nineteen paintings by Soraya Touat, an artist originally from Paris and based in Gard. The painter, present on Saturday May 4, 2024 for the first day of this exhibition, specifically created these works, drawing inspiration from the atmosphere that reigns in the castle.

Listed on Drouot since 2015

Smoothed oil paintings on organza and acrylic ink on satin are his favorite techniques. “I paint water, air, light, women and flowers to offer a sublimated, almost dreamlike reality”, says Soraya Touat. After training in Fine Arts in Paris at the age of twenty-one, she finally became a flight attendant and then a model for a large cosmetics company. Before returning to her first loves and returning to fine arts, this time in Amsterdam (Netherlands) where she developed this captivating technique inspired by the 15e century and the Italian Renaissance. “It was my differenceextends that whose artistic work has been listed at Drouot since 2015. I look for transparency and the movements of light to create my own language. »

Nicolas Point, director of the Alexandra Palace, is delighted, through this exhibition, to “show the castle in a different light, liven up the place and offer a renewal”.
