Shortly before the first anniversary of their coronation this Monday, May 6, King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla received a special document. On May 1, at Buckingham Palace, the royal couple were presented with a coronation document, known in the United Kingdom as the Coronation roll, a detailed document about the ceremony.

It is a huge roll of paper, recognized as an official state document. It includes details of the king’s accession to the throne, coronation planning and the ceremony on May 6, 2023.

But there is a catch: the historical document, which has 11,500 characters, contains at least two errors, which are also found in the digital version. The document reads “Grand Duchess Maria Theresa”. But the first name of the wife of our Grand Duke of course does not take an “H”. Her name is Maria Teresa. Likewise, the name of Princess Charlene of Monaco is not written correctly, the accent has been forgotten.

It’s unclear whether Charles and Camilla noticed the errors. During the presentation at the palace, the monarch joked: “It’s miles long!”, speaking of the 21 meter long document. Camilla added: ‘I’m not even going to try to read without my glasses.’
