Ariane De becomes curator of contemporary at the Joliette Museum

The Joliette Museum announced last week the appointment of Ariane De as curator of contemporary art.

The native of Joliette has more than fifteen years in the artistic community, having previously held the positions of art historian, exhibition curator and author.

The new curator holds a doctorate in art history from McGill University in addition to having played a key role in curating more than fifteen group and individual exhibitions in the province as well as internationally.

The COZIC retrospective. It’s up to you and the exhibition Piece for five performers, pink light and silence by Stéphane Gilot are two of his most notable creations.

In addition, she held the position of artistic and editorial director of the Plein sud exhibition center in Longueuil since 2020.

This work allowed him to highlight artists such as Eve Tagny, Karen Tam and Anahita Norouzi through a series of landmark exhibitions.

Ariane De Blois was also recognized for her writing and editorial skills as she recently won the prize of excellence from the Society for the Development of Quebec Cultural Periodicals (SODEP) in the critical review category for a text published in the magazine Esse arts + opinions.

She also signed certain notices of works for the Catalog of the collections of the Joliette Art Museum and for its permanent exhibition, The Reunited Islands.

Finally, Ms. De Blois also sat on the board of directors of the Joliette Art Museum from 2009 to 2016.
