Russian President Vladimir Putin is “ready” to speak to Donald Trump but awaits Washington’s “signals”, the Kremlin said on Friday, also retorting the latter that a drop in oil prices would have no impact on the conflict in Ukraine.

“Putin is ready. We expect signals. Everyone is ready, “the spokesman for the Russian presidency Dmitri Peskov told journalists.
He did not give any indication as to the calendar or the nature of these expected signals, while President Trump told him on Thursday that he was ready to an immediate meeting with Putin.
“It is difficult to read in the coffee grounds here,” said Peskov, sending the ball back to the White House.
Donald Trump reaffirmed his desire to meet the Russian president on Thursday.
“I think, from what I hear, that Putin wants to meet me, we will meet as soon as possible. I would meet it immediately, “he said to journalists in the oval office.

Dmitri Peskov replied on Friday that the conflict in Ukraine “does not depend on the prices of oil”.
This conflict “follows from a threat to Russian national security,” he said.
Since its re -election, Russia, Ukraine and their allies have been waiting to see what position will adopt the unpredictable American leader, in particular on crucial military aid for Ukraine, especially since he boasts of having a good Relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ukraine fears to be pushed to the negotiating table in an unfavorable position, because it is struggling on the front, and of being forced to sell its territories occupied by Russia.
