Mexican president congratulates Trump, but calls for “dialogue” and “respect”

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum congratulated Republican Donald Trump on Monday on his return to the White House while calling on him to establish a relationship based on “dialogue” and “respect.”

“As neighbors and business partners, dialogue, respect and cooperation will always be the symbol of our relationship,” she wrote in a brief message on the social network X. Mme Sheinbaum makes this call for dialogue, while Donald Trump, in his inauguration speech, announced that he would declare a state of national emergency at the border between the United States and Mexico as well as use the American army to ensure surveillance.
