The Republican clarified that his pardon would be granted to “non-violent” rioters, but that each case would be studied on a case-by-case basis.

So far, 1,100 people have been charged for participating in the assault on the Capitol, which left 5 dead, on January 6, 2021.

Ending the war in Ukraine

“I will end the war with Ukraine and Russia. If I am elected president, I will do it before I am even president,” Donald Trump declared on Fox News last September.

“I know Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy very well and I know Russian President Vladimir Putin very well. I have a good relationship and they respect your president, OK, they respect me. They don’t respect Biden,” he said.

The president, however, withdrew in December, specifying that he would first focus on the conflict engulfing the Middle East, which would be “an easier problem to resolve,” according to him.

Expelling millions of illegal migrants

Donald Trump made immigration one of the centerpieces of his last electoral campaign. On several occasions, he has assured that he intends to expel the millions of migrants currently in the United States.

A little before the election, on October 27, he made it clear that he intended to do so on the day he was sworn in.

“On day one, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get criminals out,” he said.

By 2022, the number of undocumented immigrants living in the United States was nearly 11 million, according to a federal government estimate.

In a letter sent to Congress in September 2024, U.S. customs officials said fewer than 500,000 undocumented immigrants have criminal histories.

Impose customs tariffs of 25%

“On January 20, as one of my many first executive orders, I will sign all necessary documents to impose 25% tariffs on ALL products entering the United States on Mexico and Canada,” he said. writes Donald Trump on his social network, Truth Social, on November 25, 2024.

Economists have warned that imposing such tariffs could lead to higher prices for several essential goods in the United States, hurting the wallets of many Americans.

Such a measure would also undermine the economies of Canada and Mexico, two of the United States’ main economic partners.

Donald Trump’s other promises for January 20:

  • Limiting the participation of trans women in women’s sport
  • Ending gender affirmation operations
  • Declare a national energy emergency to spur approval of new drilling, pipeline, refinery, power plant and reactor projects.
  • Stimulate 100% American automobile production
