Princess Leonor, 19, was pictured smiling in her white navy uniform as the ship arrived at the port of Tenerife. She greeted reporters from the bridge, then helped her comrades reel in ropes and deploy the pontoon toward the dock. On board, the heir to the throne sleeps in a cabin with the only three other young women on the adventure. In addition to learning about the life of a sailor, students continue to attend classes in 18 subjects.

The adventure will end in June for Leonor, when the ship arrives in New York. The Princess of Asturias will not make the month-long Atlantic crossing to Spain. She will return by plane, allowing her to use this month to complete her training aboard another frigate. Princess Leonor undergoes a year of training in each of the military academies of the three components of the army, where training must normally last three years.
