“Israel cannot exist in the long term without resolving the Palestinian question,” Joe Biden said in an interview with MSNBC. The American president thus reiterated his call to “his friend” Benjamin Netanyahu so that he recognizes “the legitimate concerns of the Palestinians”.
These comments echo those of Antony Blinken earlier this week, who said Israel should “accept that the West Bank and Gaza are placed under the control of the Palestinian Authority”, paving the way for a de facto Palestinian state .
During this same speech, the American Secretary of State outlined the outlines of a plan for the next day in Gaza, including the involvement of the United Nations in its reconstruction, as well as the deployment of a multinational force which would operate alongside Palestinian forces.
