Lebanon: Judge Nawaf Salam appointed Prime Minister

The new Lebanese head of state Joseph Aoun on Monday appointed the president of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Nawaf Salam as prime minister. He is responsible for forming a new government, the presidency said.

The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, ‘summoned Judge Nawaf Salam to entrust him with the formation of the government, knowing that he is currently abroad and that he is expected to return tomorrow’ Tuesday, announced the Director General of the Presidency of the Republic, Antoine Chouqeir, at the end of the parliamentary consultations.
