Registrations in December 2024 boosted by the new regulations on braking of towed vehicles
According to our estimates based on data from the Ministry of the Interior’s SIV, the month of December 2024 saw a sharp increase in tractor registrations with more than 5,000 units. This significant value is partly explained by investments at the end of the year for tax reasonsbut it is also to be credited to compulsory registrations of new tractors not sold by manufacturers and/or dealers, due to the new braking regulations applicable from January 1, 2025. In fact, all new tractors equipped with a system of hydraulic single line braking absolutely had to be registered by December 31, 2024. After this date, they would have been considered non-compliant and would not have been able to obtain a registration document. The volume of tractors affected varies from one brand to another.
