The Caledonia ensemble movement resigned on Tuesday, December 24, from the collegial government at the head of New Caledonia, automatically leading to the fall of the local executive. This new reversal “the seventeenth government of New Caledonia, the first chaired by an independentist”specifies New Caledonia La 1ère.
In a letter announcing its resignation, the Calédonie ensemble party (center-right, affiliated with Renaissance) declared that “since the events of May 13, (the) country has fallen into deep economic and social distress. In such circumstances, solidarity between institutions (…) constitutes an ardent obligation”. “I can only see that this was not the case and I regret it”writes Jérémie Katidjo-Monnier, resigned member of the Caledonian government, in this letter, relayed on X by a journalist from France Télévisions. He still denounces “a self-proclaimed governmental independence, contrary to the Nouméa Accord and the organic law”.
