Suspected of having killed a big insurance boss, Luigi Mangione is drowning in love letters

The young man is the main suspect in the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the leading private health insurer in the United States. The leader was shot and killed in the streets of New York.

Love letters and canteen donations

After several days on the run, Luigi Mangione was found on December 9 and placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial. According to the New York Post, the Italian-American, who has been the subject of real fascination since his arrest, is drowning in love letters.

As relayed by Match, he received 140 letters during his ten days in prison in Pennsylvania, before his transfer to New York. Many women have even gone so far as to tattoo the young man's face on their bodies.

The graduate in engineering sciences also receives numerous donations of money, intended for canteen in prison. Since his arrest and the media coverage of the case, numerous hateful comments have flourished on social networks to denounce the practices of health insurance in the United States.

The American authorities have condemned the numerous praises given to Mangione. According to AFP, the New York police expressed in an internal memo their fear that the suspect would “become an example”.
