The Barid Al-Maghrib Group, in coordination with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and UNESCO, issued a special postage stamp on the occasion of the first anniversary of the inscription of Malhoun on the UNESCO representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The unveiling ceremony of this stamp was held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Barid Al-Maghrib Museum in Rabat, in the presence of Mr. Amin Benjelloun Touimi, General Director of the Barid Al-Maghrib Group, and Ms. Samira Malizi, Secretary General of Culture, and Mr. Eric Falt, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for the Maghreb.
The stamp illustrates a Malhoun musical troupe in full performance, dressed in traditional Moroccan costumes, on a blue background decorated with refined patterns inspired by Moroccan zellige. This philatelic creation highlights this emblematic poetic-musical art, pillar of Moroccan cultural heritage and living symbol of the transmission of traditions.
Through this special broadcast, Barid Al-Maghrib reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of Moroccan cultural heritage. This stamp celebrates not only Malhoun, but also the role of the Kingdom of Morocco in the preservation and enhancement of its intangible treasures, symbols of its rich cultural heritage.
