Pascal Mormal is indeed announcing a serious downturn next week. “We will have relatively mild weather with temperatures going back above double digits, especially on Monday with 10 or 11 degrees in the center of the country. This softness will continue for a good part of the week.”
Pascal Mormal: “The weather over the last twelve months in Belgium has been unprecedented. It has never happened before”
60% chance of having a white Christmas… on the hills
And then? The Christmas period is fast approaching and everyone is already wanting to know if snow is possible for the holidays. “The weekend of December 21 – 22 could once again be a pivotal weekend. After the mild weather, we will return to seasonal norms, namely 5 to 6° in the center of the country. We must obviously always remain cautious but with a northwesterly flow, a little snowy surprise cannot be ruled out at Christmas. If there is precipitation, given the temperatures, it could take on a wintry character in the Ardennes. However, it will remain a light dusting..
Pascal Mormal dares to come forward a little: “I would say, roughly and remaining cautious, that we have a 60% chance of having a white Christmas in the Hautes Fagnes. But only 15% chance south of the Sambre-et-Meuse furrow. And be careful, when we talk about a white Christmas, I repeat, it will be a dusting. We won’t have large amounts of snow. So I can’t guarantee people will book their Christmas in Botrange to enjoy the snowflakes.”
But the meteorologist nevertheless notes that this Christmas will, whatever happens, be different from the previous two or three, where we were in a very mild configuration.
