At 80, Keith Kellogg, a retired three-star general, was appointed by Donald Trump as special envoy of the 47th President of the United States for Ukraine and Russia. Former national security advisor to Vice-President Mike Pence, then to Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg belongs to the ultra-loyalist clan towards the Mar-a-Lago billionaire. His appointment, which we do not know at this stage if it will be submitted to the approval of the Senate, comes as the belligerents in Ukraine have entered a very violent phase of the war. In recent days, Russia has bombarded several regions of Ukraine with some 90 missiles and 97 explosive drones, primarily attacking the country’s energy infrastructure. As of Thursday, more than a million Ukrainians were without electricity as winter begins to set in.
