His word was expected. Three weeks after his defeat in the American presidential election, Kamala Harris finally broke the silence this Wednesday, November 27. The current Democratic vice-president resurfaced in a very short video published on X. This is her first public appearance since her concession speech on November 6.
Despite his recent vacation in Hawaii, the unfortunate candidate appeared tiredor even still tested. As Donald Trump prepares to re-enter the White House, Kamala Harris called on her supporters to stay mobilized: 'I just have to remind you to never let anyone take your power away,' she said. “You have the same power as before November 5. You have the same goal, and you have the same ability to engage and inspire, so don’t let anyone or any circumstance take your power away.”
An attempt to revive hope among the more than 74 million Americans who voted for her, and at a time when the question of her political future arises.
Candidate in 2028?
The Democrat would not have finished with politics. According to the American site Politico, the vice-president (until January 20, 2025) would keep her options open for the future. Kamala Harris is currently exploring several avenues. The Californian, who has just turned 60, would not rule out for the moment a new candidacy during the next presidential election in 2028.
In the meantime, she could also, in the shorter term, run for the position of Governor of California, the term of the current occupant, Gavin Newsom, ends in 2026. The former state senator could also consider returning to her old position, although returning to the Senate could prove difficult, given that both seats are already occupied by recently elected senators.
