Deer wearing reflective safety jacket seen near village in Canada

This Sunday, in fact, a deer dressed in a reflective safety jacket was seen by a resident, reports The Guardian.

The woman was driving when she saw the animal on the side of the road and stopped, intrigued by the sight. “I took several photos, to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing,” she confided. The animal then disappeared and, despite this very conspicuous outfit, has not been found since.

In the photos taken by the Canadian, we see that the jacket was correctly put on the deer: the front legs pass through the holes normally dedicated to human arms and the zipper is raised all the way to the top. Since the photos were released, rumors have obviously been rife and no response has yet been provided.

“Who did this?” And why would anyone do that? asked a local conservation and wildlife official. Indeed, if the high visibility jacket surely protects the deer from hunters and from a potential collision on the road, it also risks getting stuck somewhere and injuring the animal.

The deer still sought after

Local authorities therefore found themselves reminding residents that it was illegal to “tired, annoy, worry or torment” wildlife. “Even if you can get close enough to dress an animal, we absolutely do not recommend it,” one official said. “I didn’t think I’d ever have to say that. »

Despite its very striking outfit, the fluorescent yellow deer has still not been found. Searches were launched in the region to locate him and remove this jacket which threatens his survival. Specialists are wondering about the method to adopt, as sedation can also threaten the life of the deer. “I hope the jacket will fall off by itself,” concludes one official.
