Why is the Russian intermediate-range missile fired at Ukraine so worrying? Understand in three minutes

Named “Orechnik” by Russia, the missile which struck the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday November 21 is part of the category of intermediate-range ballistic missiles (or IRBM). The strike came as a surprise because Russia was not supposed to be in possession of this type of weapon, and it is the first time such a missile has been used in a theater of war.

IRBM missiles can carry nuclear warheads and reach very distant targets. The development of this type of missile was prohibited by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, but in 2019 the United States and Russia withdrew from this treaty.

What are the characteristics of these intermediate-range ballistic missiles? How are they particularly dangerous? Why did Vladimir Putin decide to use it, and how much does he have? You will find the answers to these questions in this video.

And if you want to know more on the subject, we refer you to the analysis below.
