Russia says missile strike on Ukraine was warning to 'reckless' West

The Kremlin said this Friday, November 22, that it was certain that the United States had “understood” Vladimir Putin's message in his speech the day before, claiming responsibility for the firing against Ukraine of a new missile designed to carry a nuclear warhead , called Orechnik, and threatening the West.

“Yesterday's speech was very, very comprehensive, clear, logical,” insisted the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitri Peskov, during his daily briefing.

“We therefore have no doubt that the current administration in Washington has had the opportunity to familiarize itself with this declaration and to understand it,” noted Dmitri Peskov on Friday, the day after this day of high tensions.

Threats towards the West

In this surprise speech broadcast on Russian television, Vladimir Putin estimated that the conflict in Ukraine had now taken on a “global character”, warning Westerners that Russia was “ready for all” scenarios.

He also said Moscow reserves the right to strike Western countries that allow Ukraine to use their weapons on Russian soil.

“The main message is that the reckless decisions and actions of Western countries, which produce missiles, supply them to Ukraine and then participate in strikes on Russian territory, cannot go without reaction from Russia” , said Dmitri Peskov on Friday.

kyiv accused of using Western missiles

Moscow accused kyiv of firing twice this week for the first time since the start of the Western missile conflict against targets on Russian territory, which Russia had presented as a red line.

It was in response to these attacks, according to Vladimir Putin, that the Russian army fired a new hypersonic ballistic missile on Thursday, called Orechnik, which hit a factory which notably manufactures missile components in Dnipro, in the center-east. of Ukraine.

In his speech, Vladimir Putin praised an impossible weapon “to counter”. “Russia’s capabilities have been clearly demonstrated,” Dmitri Peskov argued on Friday.
