Planned attack on the New York Stock Exchange | Man arrested in Florida

(Miami) The American federal police (FBI) arrested on Wednesday a homeless American who planned to plant a homemade bomb this week in front of the New York Stock Exchange to “reset the state”, according to a complaint filed in Florida.

Published yesterday at 9:50 p.m.

This arrest comes after ten months of investigation into Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, born in the United States in 1994, by undercover FBI agents to whom he confided his plans. He also tasked them with finding the explosives needed to build a homemade bomb.

According to the complaint filed Wednesday, he told the agents, who posed as members of a militia, that he had sought to join “an anti-government militia” and had also considered joining the Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq in 2015. after being contacted by people claiming to belong to the jihadist organization, before giving up.

His choice for the attack project was the New York Stock Exchange, because he thought that “lots of people would support” his idea. “They would be like, ‘What this guy is doing makes sense,’ because these people are stealing from us,” he said, according to the complaint.

Searches of a storage unit found plans and electronic equipment intended to build a homemade bomb.

His internet history shows research into building such a device since 2017 and a search of his messages and emails revealed exchanges on this subject.
