In Haiti, in the commune of Pétion-Ville, residents and police try to repel gangs

Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier, leader of the Viv Ansanm gang coalition, announced his intention to get rid of the CPT, the Presidential Transitional Council. The gangs carried out an attack on Pétion-Ville, near Port-au-Prince. The assault was repelled by the police and the population.

The Haitian newspapers, Le Nouvelliste and Alterpresse published reports of the violent attacks carried out by members of the gang coalition, Viv Ansanm on the night of November 18, 2024.

The photojournalist, Odelyn Joseph, took images of around ten charred bodies. These would be the corpses of the gang members.

Ils were caught by residents of the neighborhoods of the commune of Petion-Ville, located east of Port-au-Prince.

Agents of the Haitian National Police are carrying out checks in Pétion-Ville.

The PNH, Haitian National Police, claims to have killed around thirty members of the gang. The police presence has been reinforced.

French nationals in difficulty can report to a telephone number dedicated to this purpose.

On the Facebook account of the French embassy in Haiti, 25 Haitian soldiers are leaving Martinique to resume the fight against gangs.

Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier, leader of the gang coalition, Viv Ansanm, said on social media that the coalition will “use all your means to achieve the departure of the CPT. Those who think they can block our path will pay dearly.”

The gang coalition did not accept the departure of the interim Prime Minister, Garry Conille, whose appointment was revoked by members of the CPT, Presidential Transitional Council.

On Viv Ansenm's TikTok account, Jimmy “Barbecue” Chérizier claimed that Garry Conille was “less thief” as the members of the Presidential Transitional Council.
