The inauguration of the government led by Didier Fils-Aimé took place this Saturday at the Villa d’Accueil, marking a crucial step in the political transition in Haiti. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister urged his team to act without delay in the face of the many pressing challenges, particularly in terms of security and the humanitarian crisis.
The event brought together several representatives of the diplomatic corps, highlighting the international attention paid to this transition. Among them were Dennis Hankins, Ambassador of the United States, Antoine Michon, Ambassador of France, and Dominique Dupuy, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, whose presence added a symbolic dimension to the ceremony.
The government team, made up of eight ministers reappointed from the previous administration of Garry Conille and ten new members, was called upon to adopt concrete measures. Leslie Voltaire, president of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), recalled that the fight against insecurity remains the absolute priority of the new executive.
In his inaugural speech, Didier Fils-Aimé underlined the seriousness of the context in which his government takes the reins of the country. He set four strategic priorities: strengthening security, responding to the humanitarian crisis, reviving the economy and organizing elections. These objectives aim to put Haiti back on the path to stability and development.
The Prime Minister and the CPT also expressed their solidarity with the victims of violence perpetrated by armed gangs, reaffirming the urgency of a strong and coordinated government response.
