French soldier dies in road accident in Lebanon

Quartermaster Fany Claudin of the 121st train regiment lost her life on Friday during a convoy escort mission in Lebanon.

“Marshal des Logis Fany Claudin was fatally injured during a road accident that occurred during an operational mission to escort a logistical convoy between Dayr Kifa and Naqoura, in Lebanon,” the Ministry of Ameies communicated this Friday, November 15. Continuing: “Despite rapid treatment by a doctor from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the medical team could only note the death of Marshal Claudin.”

Quartermaster Fany Claudin served in the 121st train regiment. She had been deployed on an external operation in Lebanon since the beginning of November, within UNIFIL, as part of Operation Daman. She contributed daily to the support of the force working for the return of peace, underlines the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

“Bowting with deep sadness before the memory of this soldier who died in action while carrying out his mission, Army General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, joins in the pain of his family,” concludes the press release.
