JUstin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the Anglican Church, announced his resignation on Tuesday. This decision was taken after the publication of the Makin report which accuses him of having covered a scandal for around ten years. Published in early November, the document focused on John Smyth, a lawyer close to the Church, who committed traumatic physical, sexual, psychological and spiritual assaults on more than 130 boys and young men. These attacks are said to have taken place in Christian holiday camps, starting in the 1970s and 1980s, in the United Kingdom and in Africa.
