NATO: Stoltenberg Calls For Strengthened Support For Ukraine Against Russia’s Alliances

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron in in a particularly tense international context. During this meeting, he underlined the crucial role of within the Atlantic Alliance thanks to its military capabilities.

Stoltenberg painted a worrying picture of the global geopolitical situation, highlighting the growing rapprochement between Russia and its allies – China, Iran and North Korea. He was particularly concerned about military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, with the latter now providing not only ballistic missiles but also soldiers to fight alongside Russian forces in Ukraine, in exchange for funding and ballistic technology.

The NATO chief stressed that this collaboration poses a serious threat to the United States, Europe and the Indo-Pacific region. He particularly pointed out the role of Iran, which supplies missiles used daily against Ukraine, while destabilizing the Middle East through its proxies. As for China, it supports the Russian economy, strengthens its defense systems and relays its propaganda on the international scene. Faced with these challenges, Stoltenberg praised the commitment of France, which was among the first countries to have provided advanced military equipment to Ukraine and to have formed a Ukrainian battalion. He stressed the urgency of increasing support for kyiv ahead of what could be “the most difficult winter” since the start of the conflict.
