UA fisherman found a ring while diving off the coast of Barbados, reports BFMTV. The jewelry belongs to an 83-year-old Canadian. The latter had lost his ring in 1977 and never thought he would see it again.
The diver deciphered the inscription on the ring: “McMaster University 1965”, accompanied by the initials “FMP”. He then decided to find his owner.
After contacting the university’s alumni office, the diver was able to track down the ring’s owner.
Contacted by McMaster University, the man said he had lost the ring during a trip in 1977.
The icing on the cake was that the owner found his ring the day before his birthday. “This story couldn’t be more beautiful. Not only did we find her after 47 years at the bottom of the sea, but also, a week before her birthday,” the diver rejoiced.
“What a wonderful, unexpected gift for my 83rd birthday,” the old man said at McMaster University.
