US presidential election

The American campaign appears increasingly violent as the election approaches. Donald Trump held an outdoor meeting this Sunday, November 3, in Lititz, a small town in Pennsylvania. Assuring that the 2020 election was stolen from him, he accused journalists several times of spreading false information.

The media would be “in great danger”

Referring to the armored glass now installed around him, after being the victim of two assassination attempts, he said that in order to reach it, “we would have to shoot through it” journalists. “It doesn’t bother me.”he added, applauded by the spectators won over to his cause.

Steven Cheung, communications director for Donald Trump's campaign, quickly issued a statement to tone down the comments made by the Republican candidate. He would have wanted to warn journalists of the threats they could receive: “President Trump said the media was in danger, to the extent that they were protecting him and, therefore, were in great danger themselves, and should have had glass protection as well.”

According to his campaign team, the media have continued to make jokes about the shootings targeting the ex-president on July 14 in Butler, Pennsylvania. However, Donald Trump would not want journalists to be targeted by fire. “No other interpretation can be made of what he said”concludes Steven Cheung.
