The Poitiers public prosecutor confirmed, this Saturday, November 2, the death of Anis, the 15-year-old teenager seriously injured by a gunshot to the head. The minor was enrolled in 1st grade at Saint-Jacques de Compostelle high school, said the lawyer for the teenager’s mother this Sunday.
While he was initially between life and death after being injured by a bullet in the head Thursday evening in Poitiers (Vienna), Anis, the 15-year-old teenager, succumbed to his injuries and died this Saturday November 2 at midday, as the Poitiers public prosecutor, Cyril Lacombe, announced to the press.
This minor was hospitalized in a state of absolute emergency with a life-threatening prognosis. As for his family, the latter claims that the teenager was a “collateral victim” during this shooting which would be linked to drug trafficking.
Anis attended 1st grade at the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle high school in Poitiers. He had no brothers or sisters. The teenager was passionate about sports. According to Me Yasmina Djoudi, lawyer for the minor’s mother, Anis “played football and swimming”. She describes him, in an interview with AFP, as a teenager who “had no problem with delinquency or anything”.
But how did Anis find himself in the middle of the gunfire on Thursday? Still according to Me Yasmina Djoudi, the Couronneries district, where the shooting took place, was “full of people” on Thursday evening, in particular because of a Halloween evening, organized by an association, which had brought together many young people nearby.
So, several people were outside. Among them was Anis. The 15-year-old boy told his mother “that he was going to buy a sandwich before going home”.
The suspect “would have engaged in the sale of narcotics” a few days before the shooting
It was while he was near the “Othentik” kebab shop that the minor was shot in the head. When they arrived on the scene, law enforcement found dozens of shell casings on site. They also found the 15-year-old boy on the ground, injured.
Besides Anis, four other minors were shot in the ankle, shoulder, head and foot, according to a police source at CNEWS. The first two injured reported to the police. The last two victims presented themselves at the hospital.
Since the events, “more than a hundred police officers” have been mobilized on Friday, November 1 to guarantee the security of the Couronneries district.
According to the prosecution, the alleged shooter “would have engaged in the sale of narcotics” in the neighborhood “during the previous days”. According to information from Le Parisien, the suspect was under judicial supervision as part of a weapons possession case investigated in Marseille.
