The crossover of “swing states”, a Swiss woman who accuses Donald Trump of sexual assault, Russia in the sights of the Georgian president, a former diplomat who defected from Pyongyang and the very serious UFO archives of Switzerland: these are RTSinfo’s choices of the week.
DATA – How American states have changed sides over the decades
A few thousand votes could decide the outcome of the US election next Tuesday. All eyes are on a handful of states, the famous “swing states”, where the gap between Democrats and Republicans remains very tight.
But the list of these key states and the political forces have evolved significantly over the decades. Some strongholds today, like California for the Democrats for example, voted for the other camp. A few days before the vote, discover with the interactive infographic from the RTS Data unit how support for the two major parties has evolved since 1952.

TESTIMONY: “I thought I was going to die,” says the Swiss woman who accuses Donald Trump of sexual assault
Zurich model Beatrice Keul, former candidate for Miss Switzerland, claims to have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump in 1993 in New York. Invited Thursday in the 7:30 p.m. show, she returned to this traumatic experience, when she was only 22 years old.
“I was expecting to have coffee with him, but I didn’t have time to turn around, he was already on me. At that moment, I thought I was going to die,” remembers Beatrice Keul. The Zurich resident, a former Miss Switzerland finalist now aged 53, first entrusted to the British tabloid Daily Mail. The alleged facts date back to 1993, during the “American Dream Pageant” beauty contest.
“I was very lucky, because I managed to defend myself, especially thanks to my tall height. I was also wearing high heels, which meant that we were at eye level. That’s when he “seeing my look which really said no, he understood that he had no chance with me”, confides Beatrice Keul at the RTS microphone.

INTERVIEW – President Salomé Zourabichvilii criticizes Russia’s role in the electoral fraud denounced in Georgia
For Salomé Zourabichvilii, pro-European president of Georgia, there is no doubt that Russia “inspired and helped” to commit “total” fraud during the elections won on Sunday by the pro-Russian party in power.
The Georgian Dream “used a sophistication in the violation of these elections which took everyone by surprise”, she denounces on the RTS show Tout un monde. “Russia inspired [cette fraude] and undoubtedly helped”, believes the leader, who cites as proof the scale of the fraud, able to “counterbalance the mobilization of the population” which is nevertheless “very largely” pro-European.

INTERVIEW – “North Koreans live and die as slaves,” says a former diplomat from Pyongyang
A former high-ranking North Korean diplomat, who fled the totalitarian regime and took refuge in South Korea, speaks to RTS at 7:30 p.m. He continues to follow news from Pyongyang with a somber eye, particularly the controversy surrounding North Korean soldiers in Russia.
His tone is calm and composed. And he says he feels safe. However, Ri Il Gyu has been under protection since he defected. A former political adviser at the North Korean embassy in Cuba, he fled to South Korea with his family in November 2023, leaving Havana by plane via a third country.
While in Geneva, this high-ranking diplomat denounces what leader Kim Jong-un is inflicting on his population. “We only have one life. But that of the North Koreans is a primitive life. They live as slaves and die as slaves. To these North Koreans who are so miserable, I would like to give a human life as soon as possible in a world where dignity is guaranteed.”

UNUSUAL – When flying saucers appear in Swiss military files
Since the 1950s, many countries have been tracking unidentified flying objects. They have established secret research programs on unidentified flying objects (UFOs). In Switzerland too, the army collected information. The RTS show Mise au Point was able to consult the “flying saucer” files of the air force intelligence service.
In Bern, the federal archives building is where the archives relating to UFOs are kept. They come from the army, cantonal police or Swiss embassies around the world. These archives have almost all been digitized and are accessible online.
Observations by military pilots, citizens or officials were taken very seriously by the army and were the subject of official responses. Sometimes, the army was able to identify the nature of these observations. However, there are many reports that go unanswered. A part of mystery therefore remains buried in the federal archives. The truth may be elsewhere.
