Second night of violence in Rillieux-la-Pape, near Lyon
Urban violence broke out on Friday evening in Rillieux-la-Pape, for the second night in a row, with buses set on fire and projectiles fired at the police, according to the prefecture.

“CRS reinforcements are deployed this evening in Rillieux and will be mobilized this weekend alongside the personnel of the National Police and the municipal police,” it is added. “Investigations are underway to find the perpetrators who will have to answer for their actions. Thursday evening, incidents had already taken place in Rillieux-la-Pape. Hooded young people set fire to several cars and trash cans and three people were arrested, according to the prefecture.
According to Alexandre Vincendet, mayor of this town located northeast of Lyon, those arrested on Thursday evening are minors. “Beyond the legal proceedings which will be initiated against them (…) It goes without saying that these delinquents, all minors, and their parents, are exposed to the suspension of optional aid from the Municipality and the municipal center of “social action,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
