Benjamin Netanyahu warns “Iran ally Hezbollah” that it will “pay a high price” after drone strike targeting his private residence

Following a drone attack on his private residence on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a scathing warning to Hezbollah, threatening the Lebanese Islamist organization with harsh reprisals.

A firm reaction. “Hezbollah, an ally of Iran which tried to assassinate me and my wife, made a serious mistake,” said Benjamin Netanyahu on the X network. After a drone strike targeting his private residence on Saturday 19 October, the Israeli Prime Minister warned Hezbollah, “an ally of Iran”, that it “will pay a heavy price” if such attacks were to be repeated.

“I say to the Iranians and their partners in the axis of evil: anyone who tries to harm the citizens of Israel will pay a high price,” he declared in a context of heightened tensions in the Middle East and particularly on Israel’s northern border.

Although the drone strike did not cause any casualties, it reignited tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, while marking a new stage in the escalation of hostilities between the two camps.

A message to Iran

By directly threatening Hezbollah, Benjamin Netanyahu also addressed, a key player in the region. While relations between Israel and Tehran are still marked by strong hostility, this latest episode could be a prelude to an intensification of indirect clashes between the two regional powers, sworn enemies.

For the moment, Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the drone strike against the residence of Benjamin Netanyahu. However, the Iranian mission to the UN claimed that the Lebanese movement was behind the attack.
