Vice President Kamala Harris engaged in a combative interview with Fox News on Wednesday, clashing with anchor Bret Baier on immigration and changing her policy stance while saying that if elected, she would not represent continuity of Joe Biden’s presidency.

“Let me be very clear. My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s, and like every new president who takes office, I will bring my life experience, my professional experience and fresh ideas. I represent a new generation of leaders”said Kamala Harris.

Harris’ interview marked her first foray on the channel, which is popular with conservative viewers, as it sought to expand its audience with GOP voters with less than three weeks until Election Day. His nearly 30-minute interview with Baier degenerated several times, with the two talking over each other.

When Baier continued speaking as Ms. Harris attempted to answer her questions about immigration, she said: “Can I finish? “Can I finish? You have to let me finish, please.”

Harris repeatedly tried to steer the conversation toward an attack on Donald Trump. But she also had a lot to say about herself.

Asked about her desire to “turn the page”, Although Democrats currently hold the White House, Kamala Harris said she is running for “turning the page on the last decade in which we were burdened by the type of rhetoric of Donald Trump.”

On immigration, Harris lamented the deaths of women killed by people detained and then released after crossing into the United States illegally under the Biden administration, but she criticized Trump for his role in blocking a bipartisan immigration bill earlier this year that would have increased funding for the border.

Harris indicated that she no longer supports decriminalizing illegal border crossings, as she did in 2019.

“That was five years ago and I am very clear that I will follow the law”she said. She gave the same response about proposals to allow people in the United States illegally to obtain driver’s licenses and subsidized health care.

Regarding Trump, she said: “People are exhausted by someone who claims to be a leader and spends their time putting themselves down and engaging in personal grievances.” She added: “He’s not stable.”

She also sought to draw Fox viewers’ attention to Trump’s comments regarding “the enemy within” and threats to punish his political rivals.
