A 26-year-old British man died after falling from a bridge where he wanted to take images for social networks, about a hundred kilometers from Madrid, authorities announced this Monday, October 14.
This influencer, whose name has not been revealed, was accompanied by a 24-year-old compatriot when he fell from the Talavera de la Reina cable-stayed bridge, about 110 km southwest of Madrid, announced the town hall in a press release.
“From what we were able to learn, they came to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social media, which led to this sad and disastrous result”declared the municipality’s public security deputy, Macarena Munoz.
Heavy rain on the Talavera bridge
According to the Spanish press, the heavy rains that fell on Talavera before the accident could have made the bridge very slippery.
With its 152 metal cables and stunning views of the surrounding countryside, Talavera Bridge has long attracted daredevils and social media content creators, who climb it even though it is officially forbidden to do so.
“We have said many times that this should not be done under any circumstances,” to souligné Macarena Munoz.
