One dead and 12 tourists stranded in a former Colorado gold mine – rts.ch

A person died Thursday in an accident in a former gold mine in the US state of Colorado, transformed into a tourist attraction. Twelve people are still trapped at a depth of approximately 300 meters, the Teller County sheriff announced.

According to initial findings, the elevator that transports visitors to the depths may have suffered a mechanical breakdown. According to the sheriff, the accident occurred at approximately 150 meters depth. One person died and four others were slightly injured. Eleven people were saved.
