The President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, declared that the genocide that has been taking place in Gaza for the past year is “the common shame of all humanity.”
Turkish President and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama held a joint press conference on Thursday in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Before the press conference, the two leaders held a one-on-one meeting, chaired the second meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council, and participated in the signing ceremony of the agreements.
“As you know, last year we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations with Albania. Our friendly relations with Albania, with which we draw our strength from historical ties and affinities cultural, in fact extend over well over a century,” the Turkish president first recalled.
And to continue:
“With the three agreements that we have just signed in the areas of agriculture, higher education and public relations and communication, we have confirmed our desire to advance our cooperation. We consider our initiatives in the areas of trade and investment as steps that will increase the well-being of our people. In this framework, we continue our joint efforts to increase the volume of our trade to 2 billion dollars as a first step.
The Turkish Head of State also wanted to underline the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.
“My dear friend Prime Minister Rama and I also discussed the issue of joint fight against terrorist organizations, especially FETO. God willing, we will effectively continue our fight against terrorist organizations thanks to the decisions that we took today,” he said.
Erdogan and Rama notably discussed regional and international issues.
“We also exchanged our views on global and regional issues with the Prime Minister. We follow with satisfaction Albania’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in our region and in the international arena. The atrocities committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza, and Lebanon, were among the priority items on the agenda of our meeting,” he shared.

And Erdogan continued: “The genocide that has been taking place in Gaza for a year is the common shame of all humanity. This is why, as an international community, we must do everything in our power to establish urgently a permanent ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid and exert the necessary pressure on Israel. I sincerely believe that Albania will play its role in this regard.
