Kirk depression: closed roads, flooded cellars, fallen trees: update on the damage in the and the Ardennes

The passage of Kirk depression caused some damage in the and the Ardennes. The firefighters intervened several dozen times in different sectors of the two departments, placed on orange rain-flood vigilance by Weather during the day of Wednesday October 9. Strong winds and heavy rain, up to 55 to 60 mm of water, with rainy intensities up to 10 to 15 mm per hour were expected. France Bleu Champagne-Ardenne takes stock this Thursday morning.

In the Ardennes, several roads cut

The Ardennes seem to have been particularly affected by the heavy rains during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. According to the police, several dozen small roads are cut off to traffic at the time of writing these lines. The whole department is concerned. Traffic on the A304, towards Rocroi, was interrupted for two hoursfrom 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.

The town center of the commune of Signy l’Abbaye in the west of the Ardennes seems to have been particularly affected by the rising waters.

In the Marne, fallen trees and flooded cellars

The damage in the Marne is particularly concentrated in the west of the department. The firefighters intervened around forty times in the areas of Dormans, Sézanne, Montmirail and Esternay. These latter communes are close to the border with Seine-et-Marne, only department placed on red alert to floods this Thursday morning.

The firefighters mainly noted flooding of cellars and fallen trees on the roads, also closed to traffic, without further details. The waterways are monitored. Some interventions also took place, to a lesser extent, in , particularly for infiltrations in the roofs.
