Before the arrival of the new hurricane “Milton”, a deluge of misinformation

In West Florida, highways are overloaded and gas stations are starting to run out of gas. Residents don’t have much time to flee Miltona new mega hurricane which is expected to hit the peninsula during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. After strengthening in record time reaching the maximum category of five on Monday, Milton went down a notch on the Saffir-Simpson scale on Tuesday. This still represents winds of more than 240 kilometers per hour. The danger is heightened by the fact that debris from the hurricane Helene have not yet been able to be evacuated, risking being transformed into so many projectiles.

But it is above all the rise of the ocean pushed by the hurricane which worries the authorities. The rise in water levels could reach up to four meters in Tampa, where Milton should hit the ground. This is the first time that this desperately flat region, populated by 3 million inhabitants, will be hit by a major hurricane. President Joe Biden warned of a “devastating” hurricane, perhaps the worst Florida has experienced “in a century.” “We have to evacuate now, now. It’s a question of life and death,” begged the democrat on Tuesday, who canceled a trip to Germany and Angola.
