DIRECT. Israel launches new operations against Hezbollah in southwest Lebanon

While Emmanuel Macron’s remarks concerning an arms embargo against Israel have triggered serious diplomatic tensions between the two countries, Sébastien Lecornu assures in an interview with Sud-Ouest, that “no one wants to disarm Israel for its defense” .

“The only question that now arises is this: are we moving towards a regionalization of the conflict? Are we at the dawn of a direct war between Iran and Israel? France’s duty is to avoid it”, adds the minister, believing that “we must know how to end a war”.

Sébastien Lecornu also recalls “contrary to the untruths of LFI” that “France does not deliver weapons to Israel” but delivers “components” used for “purely defensive systems” used to “protect the Israeli civilian population”.

“The president’s remarks are a call for consistency and, above all, de-escalation. What is needed after the military response is a political solution,” said the Minister of the Armed Forces.
