A 25-year-old woman was killed and at least ten other people injured this Sunday, October 6, during a shooting and stabbing attack in Beersheba, in the south of Israel. The events occurred near the bus station of this town of some 200,000 inhabitants. The injured, all aged around 20, were taken to hospital. Some were shot and others stabbed, according to emergency services. “The terrorist has been neutralized,” that is to say shot, the police said in a press release.

“Rescuers pronounced the death of a 25-year-old woman and evacuated ten injured people to Soroka hospital,” announced the Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross in a press release, some injured having been shot and others stabbed. Israeli police previously announced that “several people were injured in a shooting attack at the central bus station in Beersheba”. “The terrorist has been neutralized and police forces are on site,” adds the press release.

The Israeli army was put on alert this Sunday for fear of attacks, on the eve of the first anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks that sparked the war in the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday, seven people were killed with automatic weapons and stabbing by two Palestinians from the occupied West Bank at a tram station in Tel Aviv, in central Israel. This attack, claimed by Hamas, was the deadliest by the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israeli soil since those of October 7, which led to the death of some 1,200 people on the Israeli side, the majority civilians.
