In an interview with French media “Borders”Boualem Sansal, Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française 2015, threw a big stone into the pond of the Algerian military regime. “When colonized Algeria, the entire western part of Algeria was part of Morocco, Tlemcen, Oran, up to Mascara. This whole region was part of the Kingdom», he affirmed, judging “arbitrary” the decision of the French government at that time to attach part of the Moroccan Eastern Sahara to Algeria, then a French department.

«Morocco, you should know, is the oldest country in the world. Morocco has existed for 12 centuries. France has existed for 1000 years. Morocco is an old state which has always been powerful (…) It built an empire as far as Senegal (…) “, he highlighted.

Algerian betrayals

«When the Algerians, in 1954, and even a little before, began to campaign for independence, when the war of liberation started in November 1954, Algerian activists made contact with Morocco to accommodate them, help them militarily and financially and allow them to create military bases. Morocco then told them “Okay”. But after its independence, Algeria became a communist country. Behind, there is Moscow, Morocco has rallied behind France and the Americans. The year is 1962, the year Algeria gained its independence. What is Morocco doing? His army returns to Algeria to retake its territories. And so there was a war for a year, incredible battles (…) We bombed each other and then, reason ended up winning out, international mediation meant that things were retraced a little but still with suspicion“, explained the writer.

And to add: “The Algerian regime is a military regime. What the military did, they invented the Polisario to destabilize Morocco because they wanted a communist system. They didn’t want the Algerians to say, maybe if we did like Morocco, it would be better, they will be freer, there is tourism, things are going a little better.

Taken from the mouth of an Algerian, who is more of a confirmed intellectual, these words take on their full significance. French and international opinion in general is thus enlightened on the real issues of the war waged tirelessly by the Algerian military regime against the superior interests of Morocco, at their head its territorial integrity.

A proxy war whose hidden aim is to hide the latent conflict around a part of the Moroccan Eastern Sahara truncated for the benefit of Algeria.
