LE FIGARO. – For Nicolas Sarkozy, “a triple political, administrative and judicial error” led to the murder of the young Filipina. Do you share his analysis? ?

Bruno RETAILLEAU. – There have obviously been dysfunctions, which are not new and which are repeated. I personally had a friend murdered by a man who had remained irregularly on French soil despite three OQTFs. In 2020, he burned down the Nantes cathedral. After a year of pre-trial detention, his mental state having deteriorated, he was released under judicial supervision by the judge of freedoms and detention, then killed my priest friend, who sheltered him. At the time, the beautiful minds explained to me that all the rules, all the procedures had been correctly respected. Exactly the same thing happened with this Tunisian incarcerated in August on suspicion of kidnapping, sequestration and rape.
